Executive Functioning Skills Group
Executive functioning is a set of brain-based abilities that help us set goals, make plans, manage disappointment, and stay flexible in the face of unexpected events. Executive functioning enables us to stick with challenges without getting overwhelmed. They predict success at school and long term quality of life, relationships, happiness, employment, and mental and physical health. Improved executive functioning helps children be more flexible, well-regulated problem solvers.
This group uses proven cognitive-behavioral techniques to build social flexibility, emotion regulation, planning, and organization skills. This is a co-ed group for rising 4th-6th graders.

Positive Psychology Group
Positive psychology is a branch of psychology that focuses on understanding and promoting human well-being, happiness, and flourishing. Unlike traditional psychology, which often concentrates on diagnosing and treating mental illness, positive psychology explores what makes life worth living and how individuals can thrive. It examines strengths, virtues, positive emotions, resilience, gratitude, optimism, and meaningful connections as essential elements of a fulfilling life.
In essence, positive psychology aims to shift the focus from merely alleviating suffering to actively enhancing the quality of life. It emphasizes building upon existing strengths and fostering positive experiences to cultivate resilience and optimal functioning. By studying and applying the principles of positive psychology, individuals can learn to lead more fulfilling lives, develop stronger relationships, and navigate challenges with greater resilience and optimism.
